Gordon Murray Automotive’s next supercar teased

Gordon Murray Automotive has posted to social media a teaser of its next supercar. It will be the second car to emerge from the company founded by the legendary race car engineer who created the McLaren F1. The follow-up to the incredible T.50 and T.50s is scheduled for a release in three weeks. So far all we have is a name, the T.33, which the teaser shows us as an emblem in yellow.

Notably, however, GMA refers to it as a “supercar GT” indicating that it’ll be more of a grand tourer than the hard-core sports-oriented T.50. As such, it may be a tad more relaxed than the manual-shift, 654-horsepower, 344-pound-foot T.50 (shown below).

Croatian EV company Rimac takes majority stake in supercar maker Bugatti

ZAGREB, Croatia — Croatia’s electric supercar maker, which started in a garage a decade ago, is taking over the iconic French manufacturer Bugatti in a deal that is reported to be worth millions of euros.

including the Porsche division — which owns a majority stake in Bugatti — plans to create a new joint venture. The new company will be called Bugatti-Rimac.

Rimac Automobili announced Monday that it will be combining forces with Bugatti to “create a new automotive and technological powerhouse.”

Rimac has progressed in 10 years from a one-man garage startup to a successful company that produces electric supercars. Mate Rimac, who founded the company in 2009, says the venture is an “exciting moment” and calls the combination of the companies “a perfect match for each other.”

2150-Pound T.50 Supercar Much Better Than McLaren F1, Says Man Who Designed Both

  • Gordon Murray Automotive is delaying the launch of its three-seat supercar, the T.50, because of COVID-19, but will build the first prototype in September, with the first customers getting them in January 2022.
  • The T.50 will have a Cosworth-built naturally aspirated 650-hp 4.0-liter V-12, yet the car will weigh less than a Mazda Miata.
  • Gordon Murray told C/D that 40 percent of the T.50’s buyers so far are people under age 45, who may have had posters of his McLaren F1 on their walls as teens. “This is their F1,” he said.

UPDATE 7/22/20: Gordon Murray Automotive has released a cutaway drawing (pictured below) of the 4.0-liter V-12 that will power the upcoming T.50 supercar.
