Heartland auto shop sees rush of winter weather vehicle repairs

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – Much of Wednesday’s snow has melted away and the roads are clear, but conditions caused dozens of wrecks across the Heartland.

Car repairs pick up during the winter at James Auto Body and Glass.

The manager, Josh Lineberry, said in a few days he expects to see more cars coming in with damage due to Wednesday’s road conditions. “There’s a little bit of a delay in when the calls and cars start coming in from the initial accident times.”

“They’re usually taken to salvage yards if they slide off and need to be towed before they make it here,” stated Lineberry.

Atlantic City Indoor Auto Racing events cancelled for 2021

The Atlantic City NAPA Auto Parts race weekend has officially become the fourth and final COVID-19 victim of the 2021 Indoor Auto Racing Championship Series fueled by VP Racing Fuels. The 19th annual event promoted by Len Sammons inside the famous Boardwalk Hall had originally been planned for January 29th and 30th.

The race weekend was then postponed a month to the end of February in hopes that conditions would improve and restrictions be loosened allowing the event to held. However, strict New Jersey State gathering restrictions have remained in place for large seating indoor arenas.

While a recent trend of improving COVID-19 cases and a growing number of vaccination gives hope for the future, it has come too late to salvage the Indoor Auto Racing Championship Series fueled by VP in 2021.

Gary police seek termination of officer charged in salvage auto title investigation | Latest Headlines

In recent months, the police department has fired two officers for using excessive force and making racially insensitive comments, and a sergeant was placed on unpaid leave after he was charged Oct. 29 with felony cheating at gambling.

Gary Police Chief Brian Evans said after a December police commission meeting he’s committed to protecting his department’s reputation.

Range attested that the salvage restoration of each vehicle conformed with the law and that making a false statement on the form could result in a perjury charge, records state.

Salvage title applications help ensure stolen auto parts are not being used to restore wrecked vehicles, police said.
