Rohrman Automotive group donates to hospital’s Child Life Program
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Rohrman Automotive Group recently presented a check for $19,500 to the Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital Child Life Program as part of the automotive group’s charity pledge.
Back in September, Rohrman Automotive Group pledged to donate $50 to the Child Life program for every car it sold that month. The combined total of cars from the Indianapolis, Lafayette and Fort Wayne dealerships sold 390 vehicles, amounting to nearly $20,000 for the program.
“It’s important to us to support local charities with the funds that we have because of local support from our customers,” Trey Rohrman, director of Indiana Operations at Rohrman Automotive Group, said in a statement.
According to its website, “Certified Child Life Specialists help infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement.”
The Child Life program supports children going through care in the hospital to be as comfortable and feeling at-home as possible.
“Our role is to provide that psycho-social support for children in the hospital,” Mollie Lane, a Child Life Specialist said. “We want to help children cope when they come to the hospital, and that can look like a variety of different things.
“Whether that’s providing procedural preparation for an upcoming procedure, actually providing that procedural support to help them cope through that procedure or just helping make the hospital a less scary place by providing that normalization empathy.”
Rohrman Automotive Group will continue to annually support the Child Life Program for years to come, according to Trey Rohrman.
“Every September,” Trey Rohrman said. “during the Child Life Cancer Awareness month, the Rohrman Automotive Group sets aside $50 for every new car purchased within our group… (It’s) really cool.”
