Just last year we were graced with the introduction of the three-pointed star marque’s flagship electric vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which is the equivalent of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in its EQ range. Similar to what the GLS is to the S-Class, the German automaker also recently unveiled the SUV equivalent of the EQS, which has been straightforwardly baptized as the “Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV”.

The EQS SUV basically mirrors all the goodies found in its electric sedan equivalent, including the MBUX infotainment system, large displays, intuitive controls, multi-function steering wheel, sporty foot pedals, safety equipment, and comfort features. Even the exterior of the electric SUV carries some of the distinct design cues found in its passenger car sibling and combines them with the top key styling elements of both the EQC Crossover SUV and the GLS SUV.

In Germany, the new electric SUV is available in three trims namely the EQS 450+, EQS 450 4MATIC, and the EQS 580 4MATIC. However, in the US, the models have been streamlined to include only the rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+ and the EQS 580 4MATIC.

Overall, the EQS SUV measures 201.8-inch long, 77.1-inch wide, 67.6 high, and with a 126.4-inch wheelbase. It has a five to seven-seating capacity and can accommodate cargo of up to 74.2/71.3 cu ft.

The EV is powered by permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) in two configurations, wherein the EQS 450+ has 355 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque while the more potent EQS 580 4MATIC produces 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque based on the MBUSA website.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV boasts an electric range of 600 km (372.82 miles) according to the WLTP test procedure. Meanwhile, it can be juiced up from 10-81% in only 31 minutes at fast-charging DC stations.
