2024 BMW 5-Series Touring Spied, Rumored To Return To America

Spy photographers have caught the redesigned BMW 5-Series sedan on multiple occasions, but now we’re getting a look at the next-generation wagon.

Snapped at a distance, the pictures aren’t the best but they give us a glimpse of the 2024 5-Series Touring. While there isn’t much to see, the model will be given an evolutionary makeover that features streamlined bodywork and flush-mounted door handles.

They’ll be joined by a familiar greenhouse and a sloping roof that flows into a more pronounced rear spoiler. We can also see an angular rear window, which features a more curvaceous bottom.

While the front end is hidden by a MINI prototype, the wagon should follow in the footsteps of the sedan and feature sweptback headlights as well as a modestly sized grille. Inside, we can expect a new steering wheel, updated switchgear, and a minimalist shifter. They’ll be joined by a Curved Display, which likely consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment system.

We can expect an assortment of powertrain options and choices could include a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder producing 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 383 lb-ft (519 Nm) of torque. That being said, this particular prototype is electrified, although it’s not clear if the model is a plug-in hybrid or the electric i5 Touring.

Regardless of what’s powering the prototype, rumors have suggested the 5-Series Touring could return to the United States. There have also been rumors about the return of the M5 Touring and we should learn more once the standard wagon is introduced next year.
